You Matter

If you can relate to this cycle of self-doubt and worthlessness, we want you to know that you are not alone. Questions such as “Who am I?”, “Why am I here?”, “What is my worth?” and “What is my purpose?” are all thoughts that we struggle with on a daily basis.

It is these very questions that remind us of the beautiful verse found in the book of Psalms that says “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well”.

Have you ever found yourself feeling like you are not enough? You know, those moments when you are alone in front of the mirror, sizing yourself up and noticing those “flawed” fine lines creeping in? Maybe it’s the less than perfect skin that you see at first and soon you simply feel a little demoralized. When you resort to looking at your phone to distract yourself, you are reminded of the number of people that follow you on social media in comparison to others and suddenly, you decide that your worth is defined by that number. In your search to be somebody, you are constantly trying to be enough, constantly trying to measure up to that something that you simply cannot see.

You may have heard this verse multiple times, especially if you grew up in a Christian household that encouraged you to go to church every day. However, did you ever truly believe in this verse and the meaning of it? Before we get to that, you may also be wondering what any of this vulnerability has to do with who we are and what we are about.

a.men is all about design in the service of faith. We are art professionals based within and outside of the beautiful city of Montreal, Canada. Every day we challenge ourselves to express our beliefs through the digital content that we create. Since we recognize the fact that our talents as designers are a true representation of God-given blessings, we are so excited to share these with you and the rest of the world, all in the hopes that our passion project will inspire you to make and create.

Our goal is to help you find your purpose through the passion that we know God has placed in your heart and mind. According to Merriam-Webster, Passion is ‘the state or capacity of being acted on by external agents or forces’. Purpose is defined by the Oxford dictionary to be ‘the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists”. This means that your purpose could be ANYTHING! Does that not excite you?! No matter what this purpose looks like, we want to be here to cheer you on and support your purpose in action. By creating what we create, our hope is to connect people from across the Globe with each other and above all, God.

You Matter

Because You Are

Knowing and believing in yourself to be the unique, one of a kind creation that God himself took the time to mould and create is the beginning of understanding that you and I need in order to accomplish our passionate purpose in life, no matter how big or small it may be.

If you could quit your day job right now and do something you truly love, regardless of how much money it made, what would it be? Hmm, makes you think, right? If you are struggling with finding your purpose in life, know that it’s okay to not know just yet. You may know what you are passionate about and that alone is a fire in your heart that you can put your talents towards. So what are you waiting for?!

Now, we know that it is not always as easy as quitting your day job and leaving your day to day responsibilities that help you bring food to the table and pay your bills, all in the name of searching for your passion and purpose. However, what it IS as easy as brings us back to the verse we shared just a few paragraphs ago. Knowing and believing in yourself to be the unique, one of a kind creation that God himself took the time to mould and create is the beginning of understanding that you and I need in order to accomplish our passionate purpose in life, no matter how big or small it may be.

The truth is that the YOU you see in front of the mirror was created with purpose, intention, and worth. You are set apart from every other person on Earth and yes, there are A LOT of ‘others’ around you. With utmost respect and reverence, God took the time to fashion you as his very own son and daughter and guess what? HE LOVES YOU. HE IS IN LOVE WITH YOU. Should that not indicate to you then that you are here for a reason? That you are meant for something bigger than a day job and for something great? Shouldn’t the fact that the architect of the universe not only cares for you but also takes the time to be INTERESTED in you?

Man. That’s the type of thought process that brings us to one conclusive answer to all of the doubts we mentioned earlier: You are enough!

God created you with a unique and specific purpose. He also made sure to give you a little bit of his very great power which just so happens to be the power to make and create. You have the capability to pen beautiful words that can turn into songs and stories. You have the power to change history through innovative ideas and discoveries. You have the ability to design art, and lead a generation into a new golden age through advances in science and technology. And if you don’t think you fit into any of those categories, you my friend, have the greatest power of all: To love. And that alone makes you enough.

a.men recognizes the power of collaboration, as each of us must bring forth a piece of the puzzle that creates the bigger picture. It is because of the variety of beautiful and powerful things we can do that the masterpiece called life takes one step closer to knowing and understanding your purpose. We want you to share your story and your talents with us so that the world can see the God-given gifts you possess. After all, God’s works are absolutely incredible, aren’t they?

As we leave you with a lot to think about (oops, not sorry), we want to leave you with a blessing found in the book of Psalms that says, “May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.” We look forward to connecting with you in the coming days and we cannot wait to continue sharing our story and creations. We cannot wait to see what this inspires you to create, make and remember, and to be the best version of YOU, because everyone else is already taken.

Blessings,
